Philadelphia, PA — Jordan Davis didn’t even try to escape. The 336-pound defensive tackle held the ball high in his right hand as his teammates swarmed him in celebration.

“If I tried to run away,” Davis joked, “I would’ve been buried under everybody.”

Davis had good reason to embrace the chaos. The Eagles’ massive lineman delivered the game-sealing highlight, returning a blocked field goal 61 yards for a touchdown as time expired to give Philadelphia a thrilling 33–26 comeback win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

The play capped off a remarkable finish. Davis burst through the line on Joshua Karty’s 44-yard attempt, swatted the kick, gathered the loose ball, and rumbled down the field at an eye-popping 18.59 miles per hour — the fastest recorded speed for a player over 330 pounds since tracking began in 2017, according to Next Gen Stats.

The return sparked bedlam at Lincoln Financial Field, where fans roared as the Eagles secured their 12th straight home victory. It was also the biggest comeback in the stadium’s 20-year history.

A Block Party in Philly

Los Angeles had been in control most of the afternoon. The Rams led 26–7 in the third quarter, powered by Matthew Stafford’s two touchdown passes and four field goals from Karty. But momentum shifted when rookie Jalen Carter blocked a 36-yard attempt early in the fourth. Though penalized for taunting, Carter’s play kept Philadelphia alive.

Jalen Hurts then orchestrated a 17-play, 91-yard march, finding DeVonta Smith for a clutch 4-yard touchdown on fourth-and-goal to give Philly its first lead with less than two minutes to play. Stafford responded, moving the Rams into field-goal range with three seconds left — setting the stage for Davis’ heroics.

Hurts Heats Up

Hurts overcame a slow start to post 204 passing yards and three touchdowns in the second half alone. He connected repeatedly with A.J. Brown and Smith, who combined for 14 catches and 169 yards. Brown, frustrated with what he saw as conservative play-calling early, said afterward:

“We’ve got so many playmakers. At times, it feels like we’re holding back. I’d rather just go out, attack, and let us do what we do best.”

The comeback marked Philadelphia’s largest at home since a 20-point rally against Dallas in 1988 and improved the Eagles to 3–0. Over their last 20 games, including playoffs, they are an astonishing 19–1 — the best stretch in franchise history.

Rams Fall Short

Stafford finished with 196 passing yards and two scores, while rookie standout Puka Nacua hauled in 11 catches for 112 yards. Kyren Williams added a touchdown grab, and Karty stayed busy with four made kicks. But Los Angeles couldn’t close it out in the final seconds.

“We had our chance,” Stafford said. “That’s the NFL — it comes down to the last snap more often than not.”

Barkley Bottled Up

One year after torching the Rams for 255 rushing yards in the regular season and 205 in the playoffs, Saquon Barkley was held in check. The Pro Bowl back managed just 46 yards on 12 carries, marking his third straight underwhelming outing after a 2,000-yard campaign last season.
