PITTSBURGH — Damian Dunn was on fire Friday night, knocking down four 3-pointers and finishing with 23 points as Pittsburgh cruised to an 86-62 victory over West Virginia.
Dunn connected on 7 of 12 shots from the field, including 4 of 7 from long range, and went 5 of 7 from the free-throw line to lead the Panthers (4-0) to their fourth consecutive win. Guillermo Diaz Graham contributed a solid double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, marking his first of the season and second of his career.
Ishmael Leggett added 15 points and Cameron Corhen chipped in 14 for Pittsburgh in the dominant performance.
For the Mountaineers (2-1), who were playing their first road game of the season, Jonathan Powell came off the bench to hit four 3-pointers and score 16 points, while Javon Small added 12 points.
Pittsburgh opened the game with a 20-8 run, fueled by 3-pointers from Dunn, Diaz Graham, and Corhen. Dunn was especially hot, scoring 11 points in the first half, and his 3-pointer helped the Panthers race out to a commanding 44-22 lead. Small and reserve Eduardo Andre were the only Mountaineers to score multiple baskets in the opening frame as West Virginia struggled to keep pace.
Dunn continued to shine in the second half, hitting another 3-pointer with 13:03 remaining to extend Pittsburgh’s lead to 62-31. The Panthers maintained a comfortable margin throughout, with their lead peaking at 31 points with just over five minutes to play.
