New York, NY—-Tyler Booker’s football journey is a testament to his dedication and talent, culminating in his selection by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

From New Haven to the NFL:

Born on April 12, 2004, in New Haven, Connecticut, Booker began his high school career at St. Luke’s School in New Canaan. Recognizing his potential he started his high school journey at Bergen Catholic in Oradell, New Jersey, then he transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, where he played alongside future Alabama teammate J.C. Latham. Rated as a four-star recruit and the 39th overall prospect, Booker committed to the University of Alabama, choosing the Crimson Tide over offers from Florida, Georgia, Oregon, and Ohio State.

Dominance at Alabama:

At Alabama, Booker quickly established himself as a formidable presence on the offensive line. As a freshman in 2022, he played in 12 games, making one start and allowing zero sacks on 205 passing sets. In his sophomore year, he started 12 games at left guard, earning first-team All-SEC honors and allowing just one sack and 11 pressures. His junior year saw further improvement, with 715 offensive snaps, 353 passing snaps, only nine pressures allowed, and no sacks, culminating in first-team All-American recognition .

Leadership and Impact:

Beyond his on-field performance, Booker’s leadership qualities stood out. Alabama head coach Nick Saban highlighted Booker’s role as a leader and communicator on the offensive line, noting his ability to help teammates play better through effective communication. Offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan echoed this sentiment, emphasizing Booker’s accountability and the respect he commanded within the program.

Joining the Dallas Cowboys:

The Dallas Cowboys selected Tyler Booker with the 12th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, aiming to bolster their offensive line. Booker’s combination of size (6’5″, 321 lbs), strength, and technique makes him a valuable asset. Scouting reports praise his powerful anchor, ability to displace defenders in the run game, and proficiency in pass protection. While there are areas for improvement, such as lateral mobility and consistency in run blocking, his potential to develop into a cornerstone guard is evident.

Booker’s addition to the Cowboys’ roster addresses a critical need on the offensive line, providing both immediate impact and long-term stability. His experience against top-tier competition in the SEC and his leadership qualities position him to contribute significantly to the team’s success.

I’ve had the pleasure of covering Tyler Booker since he was in fifth grade, and I can’t think of anyone more deserving. His dedication has always stood out, and I have no doubt he’ll thrive with the Cowboys.
