Philadelphia, PA-The 2025 Roots Picnic, held on May 31 and June 1 at The Mann in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park, was a vibrant celebration of music, culture, and community. With over 30 performances spanning hip-hop, R&B, soul, and more, the festival offered an immersive experience that went beyond the music.

Headliners & Special Sets:

The weekend was anchored by powerhouse performances from D’Angelo with The Roots, Lenny Kravitz, and Meek Mill. D’Angelo’s return to the stage was a highlight, delivering a soulful set that included unexpected covers and showcased his musical prowess. Lenny Kravitz brought his timeless rock energy, performing classics alongside tracks from his latest album, Blue Electric Light. Meek Mill’s performance resonated deeply with the Philadelphia crowd, marking his debut at the festival.

Special anniversary sets added to the excitement: Jeezy commemorated the 20th anniversary of Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, Musiq Soulchild celebrated 25 years of Aijuswanaseing, and The Roots honored the 30th anniversary of Do You Want More?!!!??! with a special performance.

Jazmine Sullivan’s set was widely regarded as the festival’s best, captivating the audience with her powerful vocals and emotional delivery. Mary J. Blige, though initially facing technical challenges, regained momentum with a dynamic performance that included duets with Black Thought and a high-energy rendition of “Real Love”.

The J.Period Live Mixtape featured Black Thought, Pusha T, and 2 Chainz, delivering an electrifying set that had the crowd buzzing.
