Houston, TX — Hunter Goodman launched a two-run homer and Mickey Moniak drove in three as the Colorado Rockies ended their four-game losing streak with a 6-1 win over the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.

Tanner Gordon (5-5) delivered a strong performance on the mound, scattering six hits and allowing just one run across six innings to earn his third consecutive victory.

The game turned in the third inning when the Rockies capitalized on a defensive miscue. With Houston leading 1-0, Kyle Karros singled with one out, and Ryan Ritter reached on an error by shortstop Jeremy Peña, who bobbled a potential double-play ball. The mistake allowed Karros to advance to third.

Colorado didn’t waste the opportunity. Tyler Freeman brought home the tying run with a groundout, and Moniak followed with a go-ahead RBI single. Goodman then delivered the big blow—a towering shot to left-center for his 26th home run of the season, putting the Rockies up 4-1.

The Rockies added more in the fifth, when Moniak’s two-run double off the left-center wall extended the lead to 6-1. It was more than enough cushion for Colorado’s pitching staff, as the Astros failed to mount a comeback.

Houston starter Hunter Brown (10-6) was tagged for six runs—though only two were earned—on six hits over 6 2/3 innings in the loss.

The game marked the return of slugger Yordan Alvarez, who had been sidelined since May 3 with a fractured right hand. He went 0-for-2 with two walks, as Houston struggled offensively, finishing 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

Jesús Sánchez had provided an early spark for the Astros with a solo homer to the seats behind the bullpen in the second inning, but Houston failed to capitalize after loading the bases later in that frame. Jose Altuve lined out to end the threat.

Turning Point:
Peña’s error in the third inning proved costly, preventing an inning-ending double play and opening the door for a four-run swing by Colorado.

Stat of the Night:
This win was Colorado’s first in Houston since August 14, 2018, snapping an 11-game losing streak at Minute Maid Park.
