Harrison, N.J. — In a match dominated by defensive discipline, the New York Red Bulls and Columbus Crew settled for a 0-0 draw Saturday night at Red Bull Arena, with both goalkeepers keeping clean sheets in a low-chance Eastern Conference clash.
Patrick Schulte came up big for Columbus, making four saves to earn his third shutout of the season. Three of those stops came in the first half, as the Crew (12-6-10) absorbed early pressure from the hosts.
On the other end, Carlos Coronel only needed to make a single save, but it was enough to secure his ninth clean sheet of the year for the Red Bulls (11-11-7), who remained unbeaten at home in their last six meetings with Columbus.
Despite the draw, New York continued their impressive form at Red Bull Arena, improving to 10-2-3 at home this season — their best home record since 2018.
The Crew’s defense also silenced Red Bulls attacker Emil Forsberg, ending his streak of five consecutive matches with a goal or assist.
