East Rutherford, N.J. — Behind a strong showing from graduate transfer quarterback Tyriq Starks, the Howard Bison cruised to a 38–10 win over Morehouse College on Saturday in the fourth annual HBCU New York Classic at MetLife Stadium.
Starks, a former FAU Owl, delivered a breakout performance, throwing for 241 yards and two touchdowns, while adding a rushing score on the ground. He also rushed for 29 yards and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player.
Howard (2–1) was in control from start to finish, piling up 425 yards of total offense—their most productive game of the season. Coming into the matchup averaging just 8.5 points per game, the Bison offense found its rhythm in front of a lively crowd in the Meadowlands.
Wide receiver Andre Cooper II was Starks’ top target, hauling in four receptions for 80 yards, while running back Anthony Reagan Jr. added two rushing touchdowns, including a 1-yard score that sparked a second-half surge.

A Game That Got Out of Hand Fast:
With just over 10 minutes left in the third quarter, the game remained close at 14–10. But Howard flipped the switch, scoring three unanswered touchdowns to blow the game wide open.
Reagan Jr.’s short-yardage touchdown was followed quickly by a strip sack recovered by the Bison defense at the Morehouse 2-yard line. Starks punched it in himself just moments later to extend the lead to 31–10. Two touchdowns in under two minutes all but sealed the outcome.
Reagan Jr. finished with a career-best 48 yards on seven carries, while Travis Kerney added 53 rushing yards of his own.
Defense Sets the Tone:
Howard’s defense also shined, holding Division II Morehouse (0–3) to just 10 points. Linebacker Jay Jones II was a standout, recording an interception and five tackles for loss in a disruptive effort.
With the win, Howard improves to 8–0 all-time against Morehouse, a series that dates back to their first meeting in 2011.
