HONOLULU, HI — Hawai’i quarterback Luke Weaver connected with Cam Barfield for two touchdowns Saturday night as the Rainbow Warriors rolled to a 23–3 win over Portland State at Clarence T.C. Ching Complex.

Weaver delivered an efficient performance, completing 26 of 42 passes for 240 yards without a turnover. Both of his scoring strikes went to Barfield in the second quarter, sparking a decisive scoring surge for the Rainbow Warriors (3–1).

Second-Quarter Surge

After a scoreless opening quarter, Hawai’i broke through early in the second when Weaver found Barfield for a 16-yard touchdown to open the scoring. Just minutes later, following a quick Portland State three-and-out, the duo struck again—this time on a 33-yard touchdown pass that pushed the lead to 14–0.

Hawai’i’s defense continued to stifle the Vikings’ offense, and the Rainbow Warriors capitalized with points from the leg of Kansei Matsuzawa. The senior kicker stayed perfect on the season, drilling field goals from 44, a career-long 47, and 35 yards. Matsuzawa is now 11-for-11 on field goal attempts in 2025.

Defensive Dominance

Portland State (0–4) was unable to find the end zone, settling for a 25-yard field goal by Mathias Uribe in the third quarter to avoid the shutout. Quarterback John-Keawe Sagapolutele completed 23 of 35 passes for 189 yards but was intercepted once and pressured throughout the night. Wideout Zachary Dodson-Greene was a bright spot for the Vikings, hauling in nine catches for 78 yards.
