STATESBORO, Ga. — OJ Arnold showcased his versatility on Saturday, leading Georgia Southern to a dominant 45-17 victory over Maine with both a rushing and passing touchdown.

The senior running back made an impact in multiple facets of the game, rushing for 85 yards on 13 carries and completing his only pass attempt — a 12-yard touchdown strike to Camden Brown. Arnold also added a 12-yard reception in another well-rounded performance. It was his fourth career game throwing a touchdown pass, and the first in which he added a score on the ground as well.

Brown had a breakout day, hauling in six catches for 118 yards and a touchdown — marking his first 100-yard receiving game as an Eagle. Quarterback JC French IV contributed through the air, going 19-of-31 for 253 yards.

Defensively, Georgia Southern was just as strong. MJ Stroud led the charge with 3.5 tackles for loss, including 2.5 sacks, while Jackson Wheeler recovered a muffed punt to help shift momentum further in the Eagles’ favor.

Georgia Southern racked up 516 yards of total offense, outgaining Maine by 273 yards. The Black Bears (0-4, 0-1 CAA) remained winless on the season and are now the only team in the Coastal Athletic Association yet to record a victory, following Campbell’s win over Bryant.

The Eagles (2-2) will now turn their attention to Sun Belt Conference play, opening their league schedule next Saturday at home against James Madison.
