FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Freshman running back Mitchell Summers exploded for a career-best 250 rushing yards and scored two second-half touchdowns to propel Sacred Heart to a 32-14 come-from-behind victory over Howard on Saturday.

Howard (3-3) appeared in control early, building a 14-0 lead behind a pair of rushing scores — the latter coming on a 14-yard touchdown run by quarterback Tyriq Starks with just over two minutes left in the first half.

But Sacred Heart (5-2) came out of the locker room with renewed energy. On the first play of the second half, Summers sprinted 80 yards to the end zone, shattering his previous personal best of 119 rushing yards. He later sealed the game with a second touchdown run with just over three minutes remaining.

Starks, who completed 11 of 21 passes for 80 yards, was later tackled in the end zone by Peter Schanne for a safety, further shifting momentum toward the Pioneers.

Kicker Matt Kling provided a consistent spark for Sacred Heart, connecting on three field goals — including a 49-yarder in the first half and two shorter kicks from 19 and 25 yards in the second half.

The Pioneers widened their lead in the fourth quarter when quarterback Jack Snyder connected with Payton Rhoades for a highlight-reel leaping touchdown catch. Snyder finished the day with 147 passing yards on 11-of-18 attempts.

For the Bison, Anthony Reagan Jr. led the offense with 117 rushing yards and a touchdown, while also contributing 39 receiving yards.
