PHOENIX, AZ — Ja Morant delivered in the clutch, hitting an 11-foot jumper with 7.6 seconds remaining to lift the Memphis Grizzlies to a thrilling 114–113 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night.
Morant finished with 28 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, leading Memphis to its sixth straight win over Phoenix. He scored 18 of his points after halftime, including the decisive shot set up by Santi Aldama in the final seconds.
The Suns mounted a furious fourth-quarter comeback after trailing 99–89 midway through the period. Devin Booker tied the game at 108 with a jumper at the 2:23 mark, and Mark Williams’ dunk with 51.4 seconds left gave Phoenix a brief 113–112 advantage.
After both sides came up empty on ensuing possessions, Aldama found Morant cutting to the basket for the game-winner. Booker had one last chance but saw his deep three-pointer bounce off the rim as time expired.
Booker led all scorers with 32 points, including 16 in the fourth quarter, though he shot just 10-of-26 from the floor. Williams shined in his first start for the Suns, producing 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting to go with 11 rebounds.
For Memphis, Jaren Jackson Jr. added 18 points, while Aldama was outstanding off the bench with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. His emotional 3-pointer that pushed the Grizzlies ahead 106–97 with just over five minutes left punctuated a strong team performance.
Phoenix, now losers of four straight since opening the season with a win over Sacramento, held a slim 53–49 halftime lead. Collin Gillespie sparked the Suns early with 13 of his 14 points before the break.
The Suns were short-handed again, missing Jalen Green (hamstring) for the fifth straight game and Dillon Brooks (groin) for the second.
