Brooklyn, NY— Kelly Oubre Jr. and Tyrese Maxey powered the Philadelphia 76ers to another strong win, combining for 55 points in a 129–105 rout of the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday night at Barclays Center.

Oubre was electric early, pouring in 22 of his 29 points in the first quarter on 9-of-11 shooting before exiting late in the third with an ankle injury. Though he later returned to the bench, he did not reenter the game.

Maxey carried the momentum from there, finishing with 26 points, while Quentin Grimes added 22 off the bench and rookie VJ Edgecombe chipped in 16 as Philadelphia improved to 5–1.

Sixers Thrive Without Embiid

Playing without Joel Embiid, who sat out for left knee management after logging 25 minutes in Friday’s loss at Boston, the Sixers still looked sharp and aggressive. They shot 52% from the field, controlled the glass, and led by as many as 28 points.

Philadelphia opened the third quarter with a Maxey 3-pointer to go up 76–55, but Brooklyn briefly fought back with an 18–7 run to trim the deficit to 83–73. Grimes answered with three straight baskets, restoring control and pushing the lead to 90–78 heading into the fourth.

The Sixers then opened the final period on a 9–0 burst, capped by a Maxey floater that made it 99–78 with 9:39 left, effectively ending Brooklyn’s hopes of a comeback.

Nets’ Struggles Continue

Cam Thomas led the Nets (0–6) with 29 points, while Michael Porter Jr. and Terance Mann each scored 17. Brooklyn’s winless start is its worst since the 2015–16 season, when the team began 0–7.

The Nets once again struggled defensively, giving up at least 120 points for the third straight game and shooting just 43% from the floor.
