East Hartford, Conn. — UConn running back Cam Edwards powered the Huskies to a 26–16 win over Air Force on Saturday, eclipsing the 1,000-yard rushing mark during a dominant 165-yard performance that also included two touchdowns.
Edwards, who finished the day with 1,031 yards on the season, played a central role in helping the Huskies improve to 8–3 while closing out a perfect home slate.
UConn set the tone early, marching down the field on its opening possession and scoring on a 10-yard run by quarterback Joe Fagnano. A failed two-point conversion left the Huskies ahead 6–0. After Air Force briefly took the lead, UConn reclaimed control just before halftime with a 47-yard field goal from Chris Freeman, sending the Huskies into the break up 9–7.
The Huskies struck quickly again to begin the second half. Edwards started the drive with a 36-yard burst, and Fagnano followed with a 31-yard strike to Shamar Porter. Edwards finished the six-play, 79-yard march with an 8-yard touchdown run to extend the lead.

Freeman added a 27-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter, and Edwards punched in his second touchdown of the day from five yards out, stretching the advantage to 26–10 with just over five minutes remaining.
Air Force running back Dylan Carson, who scored both Falcon touchdowns, found the end zone again on a 2-yard run with 2:30 left, but UConn’s defense held firm the rest of the way.
Despite a strong rushing effort from Air Force — highlighted by Owen Allen’s 123 yards — the Falcons fell to 3–7.
The win capped an outstanding home stretch for UConn, which finished 6–0 at Pratt & Whitney Stadium this season and is now 12–1 at home over the past two years.
