Las Vegas, NV — A’ja Wilson etched her name into the history books on Wednesday night, becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 5,000 career points as the Las Vegas Aces rolled past the Connecticut Sun 85–59 at Michelob ULTRA Arena.
Wilson reached the milestone with a driving left-handed layup in the first quarter, surpassing 5,000 points in just 238 career games—beating the previous record held by Breanna Stewart (242 games). She finished the night with 22 points, helping the Aces improve to 7–7 on the season.
Las Vegas started on fire, opening the game with a 19-0 run as Connecticut missed its first ten shots and committed five turnovers before Lindsay Allen finally put the Sun on the board with under two minutes left in the first quarter.
Jackie Young added 20 points, Chelsea Gray contributed 15 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and three blocks, while Jewell Loyd chipped in with 13 points. The Aces buried 11 three-pointers, with Young, Gray, and Loyd each hitting three from deep.

The Sun (2–13) dropped their seventh straight game and sixth in a row to the Aces, who had also dominated them 87–62 earlier in the season. Tina Charles led Connecticut with 18 points, while Olivia Nelson-Ododa had 12, and Saniya Rivers added 10. The Sun struggled mightily from the field, shooting just 32% overall and a dismal 15% (2-for-13) from beyond the arc.
Marina Mabrey missed her second straight game for Connecticut due to a knee injury.
The Aces, coming off a morale-boosting 89–81 win over Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, seem to be regaining momentum after their recent three-game skid—their longest losing streak since the 2020 WNBA Finals.
