Tampa, FL—–The journey to Kentucky Derby 151 makes a crucial stop in the Tampa Bay area this Saturday, March 8, 2025, as a field of seven bay-colored contenders battles for valuable qualifying points in the Grade III Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby at Tampa Bay Downs in Oldsmar, Florida.
This highly anticipated 1 1/16-mile race on the main track carries a $400,000 purse, with the top five finishers earning Kentucky Derby points on a 50-25-15-10-5 scale. Some of the sport’s top trainers and leading jockeys will be on hand to guide their three-year-old hopefuls, all eyeing a shot at the Run for the Roses on the first Saturday in May. Last year’s winner, Domestic Product, finished 11th in the Kentucky Derby.
