Anaheim, CA— Logan O’Hoppe stayed red-hot at the plate, launching a home run for the fourth consecutive game, while Jorge Soler delivered a go-ahead blast in the sixth inning to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 6-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday.
Kyren Paris also added a home run for the Angels, who have now won six of their last eight games. Los Angeles claimed the weekend series against Cleveland — their only home series within the first three weeks of the season — before heading back out on the road for 15 of their next 18 games.
O’Hoppe made franchise history by becoming the first catcher in Angels history to homer in four straight games. His solo shot to lead off the second inning followed home runs in his previous three games, including a blast at St. Louis and two more against Cleveland.
Cleveland’s Kyle Manzardo provided a bright spot for the Guardians with a home run, but the team finished their season-opening nine-game road trip with a disappointing 3-6 record, dropping five of their last six games in Southern California.
Angels starter Tyler Anderson allowed two runs over five innings, surrendering just one hit while walking four. Ryan Zeferjahn (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless sixth inning.

Veteran closer Kenley Jansen closed out the game in the ninth, collecting his 1,225th career strikeout as a reliever — tying Hall of Famer Lee Smith for fifth all-time.
Cleveland starter Luis Ortiz (0-2) gave up seven hits and three runs over six innings in the loss.
Tim Anderson contributed an RBI single in the second inning for the Angels, while Los Angeles tacked on insurance runs with sacrifice flies from Luis Rengifo and Jorge Soler in the seventh.
Turning Point:
Soler broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth with a 397-foot solo home run, his second long ball in as many days.
Stat of the Day:
Tim Anderson drove in three runs during the series — the first time he’s done so in a single series since July 2022.
Looking Ahead:
The Angels travel to Tampa Bay where Kyle Hendricks (0-0, 3.00 ERA) will make his second start of the season on Tuesday. The Guardians return home for their opener against the Chicago White Sox, sending Ben Lively (0-1, 6.75 ERA) to the mound.
