Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Under clear skies at Fish Field House, Boston College football held its third spring practice of the 2025 season on Saturday. This session marked a key milestone for the Eagles as they donned pads for the first time this spring.

After practice, defensive coordinator Tim Lewis, offensive lineman Jude Bowry, and defensive back Cameron Martinez met with the media to discuss the team’s progress.

Martinez Embracing Year Two:

Martinez, now in his second full season with Boston College, expressed confidence in his growing familiarity with the team’s system. He highlighted the team’s focus and energy as notable improvements from the previous year.

“This spring feels completely different—in a good way,” Martinez said. “I feel a lot more comfortable with a year in this defense. But it’s all about taking the team to another level.”

Adjusting on Defense:

Lewis, entering his second year leading the Eagles’ defense and his 38th year in coaching, addressed how the unit is adapting, particularly in the absence of All-American and national sack leader Donovan Ezeirauku.

“It’s never easy to replace a great player like that,” Lewis acknowledged. “But we’re going to keep coaching, keep teaching, and let the scheme evolve. We’ve got talented guys, and with the new coaches we’ve brought in, we’re getting fresh perspectives that will help us grow.”

Leadership on the Offensive Line:

Bowry, stepping into a more prominent leadership role on the offensive line, emphasized the importance of passing down knowledge to younger teammates.

“I had Ozzy (Trapilo) alongside me last year, and I still talk to him all the time,” Bowry said. “Now, I’m stepping into that leadership role—guiding the younger guys, giving them advice, and showing them what it takes to succeed. Watching the older guys, you learn how to prepare, how to work hard every day, and how to approach the game like a professional.”

Spring Practice Schedule:

The Eagles will continue their spring slate with three weekly practices—Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays—running from March 11 through April 12. All sessions remain closed to the public.
