AMES, Iowa — Iowa State turned its Wednesday night matchup into a showcase, burying shots at a historic pace in a 132-68 demolition of Alcorn State, setting a new program scoring record in the process.
Freshman Milan Momcilovic stole the spotlight, drilling his first eight 3-point attempts and finishing with 27 points. The Cyclones hit 22 triples as a team — the most in school history — and shot a staggering 70.8% from the floor and 73.3% from beyond the arc, the highest marks of head coach T.J. Otzelberger’s tenure.
The offensive outburst powered No. 10 Iowa State to 8-0, matching its best start since 2021-22. The 64-point win tied for the fifth-largest margin in school history, surpassing the previous scoring record of 130 points from a 2016-17 victory over The Citadel.
The Cyclones accomplished it all without star point guard Tamin Lipsey, who missed his third straight game while recovering from a groin injury suffered at the Players Era Championship in Las Vegas on Nov. 24. Otzelberger reiterated that Lipsey would not be rushed back, especially with lingering shoulder, thumb, groin and preseason knee issues.

Even so, the Cyclones never skipped a beat.
Iowa State trailed briefly early before unleashing a 17-0 run in under three minutes, quickly building a 20-point lead midway through the first half. Momcilovic and Jamarion Batemon stayed relentless after the break, combining to make 9 of 12 from deep in the second half. Batemon finished with 26 points, while Joshua Jefferson added 24.
Alcorn State (1-9) managed just 28 first-half points — its lowest total of the season — and was led by Jameel Morris with 17. The Braves never recovered from Iowa State’s blistering pace.
