East Hartford, Conn. — Joe Fagnano delivered one of his best performances of the season, throwing for 355 yards and four touchdowns in just three quarters as UConn overwhelmed Florida International 51-10 on Saturday afternoon.

With the victory, the Huskies (4-2) extended their winning streak to three games, while the Panthers (2-3) dropped their second straight.

Fagnano completed 22 of 28 passes and spread the ball around efficiently, connecting twice with Skyler Bell for touchdowns. Reymello Murphy and Victor Rosa also found the end zone through the air, giving UConn a balanced and explosive offensive showing.

The Huskies took control early, building a 24-point lead by halftime and scoring on five consecutive drives between the second and third quarters. Their up-tempo offense rarely stalled — only three of their nine scoring drives lasted more than two and a half minutes.

Cam Edwards and Oliver Lundberg Coleman each added rushing touchdowns, while kicker Chris Freeman was perfect on the day, nailing field goals from 28, 36, and 43 yards.

FIU, meanwhile, couldn’t overcome a rash of turnovers. The Panthers lost two fumbles and threw three interceptions, spoiling any chance to keep pace. Running back Kejon Owens provided the lone bright spot, rushing for 67 yards and the team’s only touchdown on 16 carries.

UConn’s defense dominated throughout, holding FIU to 304 total yards and just 3-of-15 on third downs, while the Huskies’ offense piled up 527 yards and converted six third downs of their own.

The win gives UConn a 2-1 edge in the all-time series. FIU won the previous meeting, 24-17, on Sept. 16, 2023.
