Conway, SC — Coastal Carolina couldn’t complete a second-half comeback Saturday, as the Chanticleers fell 60–50 to Georgia Southern at the HTC Center, extending their conference skid to four games.
The Eagles built an early cushion by jumping out to a 20–10 lead after the opening quarter, but Coastal responded with its best stretch of the game in the second period. The Chanticleers tightened up defensively and outscored Georgia Southern 15–7 to cut the deficit to just two points heading into halftime.
Momentum briefly swung Coastal’s way in the third quarter when Kristin Williams drained a three-pointer to knot the score at 33. However, the Chanticleers were unable to capitalize, as Georgia Southern answered with timely baskets and regained control down the stretch to secure the road win.

Williams led Coastal with 15 points, knocking down four shots from beyond the arc and adding three free throws. Tracey Hueston chipped in 12 points and pulled down six rebounds, providing a spark inside. Despite the effort, Coastal struggled offensively, finishing the game shooting 30 percent from the field and 33 percent from three-point range. The Chanticleers went 10 of 15 at the free-throw line.
With the loss, Coastal Carolina dropped to 7–9 overall and 0–4 in Sun Belt Conference play, while Georgia Southern improved to 10–4 and 3–1 in the league.
