South Bend, Ind. — Corey Hadnot II delivered a career night, and Purdue Fort Wayne made history in the process, edging Notre Dame 72–69 on Sunday to earn its first-ever win over the Fighting Irish.
Hadnot poured in 29 points on an efficient 10-of-16 shooting night, knocking down four 3-pointers and converting five of six free throws. The performance fueled the Mastodons (8–6), who snapped a road skid and improved after entering the game winless away from home and 0–7 all-time against Notre Dame.
Mikale Stevenson chipped in 18 points, while DeAndre Craig added 14 and Maximus Nelson contributed 11, including two clutch free throws in the final seconds.
Notre Dame (9–4) was led by Jalen Haralson, who finished with 21 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Braeden Shrewsberry scored 13, and Logan Imes added 12 off the bench.

The Mastodons seized momentum early behind Hadnot, who scored 17 of his team’s 27 first-half points to build a narrow halftime lead. Despite limited production from his teammates in the opening half, Hadnot’s shot-making kept Purdue Fort Wayne in front as Notre Dame struggled to find an offensive rhythm.
The Irish briefly surged ahead early in the second half, but Stevenson’s jumper midway through the period pushed the Mastodons back in front for good. Notre Dame mounted a final push in the closing moments, cutting the deficit to one on a Shrewsberry 3-pointer with four seconds remaining. Nelson calmly answered at the line, and Haralson’s last-second attempt from deep missed, sealing the upset.
The victory marked a breakthrough moment for Purdue Fort Wayne, which controlled the tempo late and executed under pressure to close out the program-defining road win.
