Elmont, NY—-Hot 97’s legendary Summer Jam concert returned in full force this year, commemorating three decades of Hip-Hop culture with an unforgettable night of music, surprises, and celebration.

Held on Sunday, June 2, at the sold-out UBS Arena in Elmont, NY, the milestone event brought together a powerful blend of hip-hop’s rich past, vibrant present, and rising future. The evening featured electric performances from heavyweights like Doja Cat, Gunna, and Sexyy Red, as well as a host of surprise appearances that kept fans buzzing all night long.

The crowd was treated to a touching tribute to the late DJ Mister Cee, a beloved figure in the hip-hop community. Veterans Method Man, Redman, and Busta Rhymes took fans down memory lane with high-energy sets that proved their timeless appeal. Nigerian superstar Davido also lit up the stage, delivering a pulsating performance that brought the spirit of Lagos to Long Island. “Davido’s performance was electrifying… he carried the show,” one fan wrote on YouTube under Hot 97’s recap video.

Doja Cat closed the night with a headlining performance that had the crowd roaring. With chart-toppers like “Paint The Town Red” and “Ain’t Sh*t,” her set was met with overwhelming praise across social media platforms.

While the summer solstice may mark the official start of the season, Hip-Hop fans know Summer Jam is the true kickoff to summertime vibes in New York. And this year’s show lived up to the hype.

Alongside the main acts, rising stars like Kyle Richh, Tata, and Jenn Carter took the stage. Cash Cobain also made a memorable appearance, performing his viral hit “Fisherr” featuring Bay Swag — a song that’s been dominating NYC’s airwaves, especially after its remix with Ice Spice dropped.

The night wasn’t without a dose of drama, though. Hip-Hop icons like Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, French Montana, and A$AP Ferg brought nostalgia to the stage, but not everyone felt the love. Method Man took to Instagram after the show, saying, “Not our crowd at all… the generation gap is just too wide for me. #nevercomingback.” Despite his disappointment, he still expressed gratitude to those who showed up and supported.

With unforgettable performances, emotional tributes, and moments of real talk, the 2024 Summer Jam was a powerful reminder of Hip-Hop’s enduring legacy — and its ever-evolving future.
