Atlantic City, N.J. — Iona surged to a 77-65 win over Manhattan in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday night, thanks in large part to a stellar second-half performance from Dejour Reaves. The senior guard scored 21 of his game-high 28 points after the break, leading the Gaels to victory.
Reaves also contributed six boards, helping Iona (16-16) secure a spot in Friday’s semifinal, where they will face top-seeded Quinnipiac.
Yaphet Moundi was another key contributor for Iona, finishing with 23 points and eight rebounds. Adam Njie also added 16 points, although he struggled with his shooting, going 7-for-20 from the field.
For the fifth-seeded Jaspers (17-13), Wesley Robinson led the way with a double-double, recording 15 points and 10 boards. Devin Dinkins also scored 15 points, while Shaquil Bender chipped in with 12.
The game was closely contested in the first half, with Moundi scoring 14 points to help Iona take a slight 33-31 lead into the break.
However, Reaves dominated after halftime, propelling the Gaels to the win.
