Philadelphia, PA——Thursday night at the Dell Music Center was a remarkable showcase of R&B talent, with each artist delivering a unique and memorable performance at the 5.300 capacity venue.
The evening kicked off with J Brown, whose smooth, soulful crooning set a perfect tone for the night. His velvety voice and engaging stage presence warmed up the audience and built anticipation for the rest of the show.
Brown hit the audience with songs like; “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love”, “Baby I Can”, “Vibe”, “My Whole Heart”, New Edition, “Can you Stand The Rain”, “Forever Yours”, and he closed his set out with “If You Could See You”.
Next up was Marsha Ambrosius, whose performance was nothing short of mesmerizing. With her impressive vocal range and emotive delivery, Ambrosius captivated the crowd, effortlessly moving between sultry ballads and powerful anthems. Her ability to connect with the audience through her music was evident, leaving everyone in awe of her talent.
Ambrosius went on to sing her timeless classics like; “Your Hands”,”Hope She Cheats On You”, “Smoke”, “One Night Stand”, “Wet”, “Butterflies”,”Late Nights And Early Mornings”, “Wrong Right”, “Far Away”, “Hey You”, “Alone Together”, “Kiss And Fuck”, and ended the night with her signature hit “Say Yes”.
The energy soared to new heights when Johnny Gill took the stage. Known for his dynamic performances, Gill did not disappoint. His high-energy set had the audience on their feet, dancing, and singing along to his greatest hits. His charisma and stage presence were infectious, making it clear why he’s a legendary figure in R&B.
The crooner started the night with; “Fairweather”, “Wrap My Body”, Frankie Beverly and Maze, “Before I Let Go”, “This One’s for Me and You”, New Edition, “Can You Stand The Rain”, “There You Go”, “My Body”, “My My My, and closed his set out halfway in the audience with “Rub You”.
