Las Vegas, NV—–A’ja Wilson’s dominant performance of 26 points and 16 rebounds, coupled with Kelsey Plum’s 18 points, propelled the Aces to an 85-74 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Friday night. This win marked Las Vegas’ seventh triumph in their last nine encounters with Connecticut, including the memorable 2022 WNBA Finals.

Wilson’s stellar outing included her fourth game of the season with 25+ points and 15+ rebounds, approaching Tina Charles’ WNBA record of five such performances set in 2021. Additionally, Wilson extended her streak of scoring 20+ points to 19 consecutive regular-season games.

The Aces (8-6) secured their first back-to-back victories since late May, while the Sun (13-2), off to their best start in franchise history, suffered their first road loss in six games this season.

Las Vegas maintained a double-digit lead that Connecticut narrowed to seven points in the third quarter, only for the Aces to respond with a decisive 9-3 run, entering the fourth with a commanding 63-50 advantage. They continued their momentum with a 7-3 run to start the final quarter, extending their lead to 70-53.

Connecticut’s efforts were led by DiJonai Carrington, who scored 11 of her 19 points in the third quarter, and Brionna Jones chipped in 18 points. Alyssa Thomas faced foul trouble, finishing with six points and seven assists, while DeWanna Bonner struggled with six points on 2-of-10 shooting.

The first quarter saw Jones and Tyasha Harris as the lone scorers for Connecticut, trailing 20-16, with Jones contributing 11 points in the opening frame but held scoreless in the second as Las Vegas stretched their lead to 45-28 by the break and never looked back.

The Aces are now 5-4 at home this season after going 19-1 at home last year on their way to a 34-6 regular season finish.
