Athens, Ga.— Texas A&M built a commanding early lead but could not hold off a late surge, falling to Georgia 64–56 in overtime Sunday afternoon at Stegeman Coliseum.
Fatmata Janneh powered the Aggies with a dominant performance, finishing with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Ny’Ceara Pryor added a strong all-around effort, totaling 12 points, seven assists, five steals and four rebounds, while Lauren Ware recorded a double-double of her own with 14 points and 11 boards.
Texas A&M (7–4, 0–2 SEC) opened the game in complete control. Pryor scored seven of the Aggies’ first nine points, Ware protected the rim with three early blocks, and a Pryor three-pointer capped a 9–0 run that forced Georgia to call an early timeout.
The Aggies continued to dictate the pace, stretching the margin to 20–8 by the end of the first quarter while shooting 50 percent from the field. Georgia managed just 23.5 percent shooting and went scoreless from beyond the arc in the opening frame.
The momentum carried into the second quarter as Texas A&M continued to build its advantage, heading into halftime with a 37–22 lead. Janneh and Ware controlled the paint, combining for 24 first-half points, with Janneh scoring 14. Pryor stuffed the stat sheet in the opening 20 minutes, posting nine points, five assists, four steals and two rebounds.

Georgia (15–1, 1–1 SEC) responded after the break, turning up the defensive pressure in the third quarter. The Lady Bulldogs chipped away at the deficit, trimming the Aggies’ lead to 53–44 entering the final period. Janneh added four points and five boards in the quarter, securing her fifth consecutive double-double before the fourth began.
Offense was hard to come by for Texas A&M in the fourth quarter, as the Aggies managed just one point. Georgia capitalized on the scoring drought, mounting a comeback to force overtime tied at 54–54. The final three minutes of regulation were scoreless for both teams, with each side committing three turnovers during the stalemate.
Georgia carried its momentum into overtime, outscoring Texas A&M to pull away for a 64–56 victory in the tightly contested SEC matchup.
Texas A&M will continue its road stretch Thursday, traveling to Florida for a 6 p.m. tipoff. Georgia also returns to action Thursday night, hosting LSU at 6:30 p.m.
