Bronx, NY—-Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is proud to present DRU HILL on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 8 PM. Founded in 1992, DRU HILL has engraved itself in the legacy of R&B with timeless hits like “Tell Me,” “In My Bed,” and “How Deep Is Your Love.” With over 40 million records sold and seven Top 40 hits, DRU HILL, featuring both new and returning members, celebrates over 25 years of hits at Lehman Center.
Patrons who purchase VIP tickets (first 9 rows of Orchestra Center) are invited to attend a special reception at 6:30pm on the day of the show. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres catered by Havana Cafe.
DRU HILL, originally formed as the gospel group 14K Harmony in Baltimore, Maryland, quickly made their mark on the R&B world in the mid-1990s. Founded by Tamir “Nokio” Ruffin, Mark “Sisqó” Andrews, James “Woody” Green, and Larry “Jazz” Anthony, DRU HILL gained widespread attention with their debut single “Tell Me” which showcased their sultry vocals and pristine harmonies. This gold record sold 600,000 copies domestically and peaked at #5 on the Billboard R&B chart.
In 1996, DRU HILL released its self-titled debut album Dru Hill, making waves with #1 R&B hits “In My Bed”, “Never Make A Promise,” and top 10 hit “Whatever You Need.” With the album’s success, the group was honored with winning the 1997 Billboard Music Awards for Top R&B Song and Artist, and the 1998 Soul Train Awards for Best R&B/Soul Single and Album.
DRU HILL’s second album, Enter the Dru, was released in 1998. This multi-platinum project, featuring the #1 hit “How Deep Is Your Love”, further solidified their status in the 90s R&B scene. In 2002, DRU HILL reunited with the addition of a fifth member, Rufus “Scola” Waller, and released their third album, Dru World Order which includes classics “I Should Be…” and “I Love You.”
Throughout DRU HILL’s career, the group has collaborated with legendary stars including Mariah Carey, Ludacris, Mýa, and Will Smith. Celebrating more than 25 years of creating timeless hits, DRU HILL was honored with the Urban Music Icon Award at the 2022 Black Music Honors.
Today, the R&B group is led by founding members Sisqó, Nokio, Jazz, and former member Scola, as well as the latest additions Smoke and Black from the R&B group Playa.
Sisqó, the dynamic frontman of DRU HILL,is known for his powerhouse vocals, trend-setting style, and choreography which have defined the group’s edge and soulful flavor.
Nokio, founder and in-house producer for the group, has given DRU HILL its mass appeal and staying power for over two decades.
Jazz, original member and anchoring vocalist, is the smooth yet sophisticated voice that puts a gentle touch on DRU HILL hits. Classically trained, his vocal versatility and indispensable talents as a songwriter and producer still leave audiences wanting more after 20 years.
Scola joined DRU HILL for their third album. A key contributor, he showcased his talents as a lead singer and songwriter on standout tracks like “I Love You,” “Old Love,” and “I Should Be…”
Smoke, Grammy-winning vocalist and former R&B group Playa’s lead singer, has worked alongside artists like Jodeci, Drake, and Chris Brown. He brings his dynamic range and songwriting prowess to DRU HILL, helping propel them into the next era of R&B.
Black, singer, songwriter, and producer whose smooth vocals have graced the hits of iconic artists like Aaliyah, Timbaland, Jodeci, and Ginuwine. Black brings a soulful vibe and a hit-making pen to DRU HILL, adding to their classic legacy.
