East Rutherford, NJ—-Quarterback Daniel Jones was both impressive and inaccurate, while wide receivers Malik Nabers, Jalin Hyatt, and Wan’Dale Robinson continued to shine on the field, consistently outperforming their defensive teammates for the second day in a row.
On defense, cornerback Deonte Banks made key plays against the agile Nabers, and linebacker Brian Burns was a disrupter all through the 11-on 11 drills . Notably, Burns managed to get past left tackle Andrew Thomas, contributing to an incompletion.
Running back Dante Miller, aptly nicknamed “Turbo,” scored two long touchdowns: one on a catch-and-run from Tommy DeVito and another on a dime thrown by Drew Lock. Miller, a rookie free agent who signed in April after his college career at Columbia and South Carolina, had planned to join the Gamecocks in 2023 but was ruled ineligible by the NCAA. This ruling led him to enter the NFL as an undrafted free agent instead of through the 2024 draft.
The day’s other touchdown came from a quarterback keeper by Daniel Jones near the goal line. Earlier, Nabers made a terrific play with a long reception from Jones along the right sideline, and Jones later connected with Jalin Hyatt on a back-shoulder pass to set up the goal-line score.
After the end of practice, Nabers mentioned that coach Brian Daboll asked him what play he wanted to run before his big play.
“Dabs asked me what play I wanted to call, and I said, well, let’s throw a go ball,” Nabers said. “And Daniel came up to me, like, what do you want, you want to check out of the press? I said, nah. I said, off press, just throw it up. He was like I got you. The chemistry showed.”
DB Cor’Dale Flott recovered to strip away a pass intended for Nabers during 11-on-11 drills.
