Annapolis, MD -The Navy Midshipmen were dominant hosts against their regional rivals, the Temple Owls, at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Navy stormed out to a commanding lead, scoring the game’s first 23 points, thanks to the impressive performance of junior quarterback Blake Horvath. Horvath set the tone early, with a 2-yard touchdown run, followed by a stunning 62-yard dash in the second quarter, extending Navy’s lead to 16-0.

Fullback Alex Tecza then added to the onslaught with a 65-yard touchdown run, widening the gap to 23-0. Temple managed to get on the board with a field goal just before halftime, but the damage had already been done by the Midshipmen.

The second half was no different, as Navy piled on another 15 points, pushing the score to 38-3. Blake Horvath had an outstanding day, earning Student-Athlete Player of the Game honors. He passed for over 100 yards with a touchdown and rushed for more than 120 yards, including three touchdowns. His all-around performance electrified the crowd of 28,889 on this overcast afternoon.

Temple finally scored their first touchdown of the season in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late. Navy secured a 38-11 victory in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score suggested. The Midshipmen looked sharp, a testament to their strong coaching and execution early in the season.

Navy will have a week off before hosting the Memphis Tigers on September 21st.
