Newark, N.J. — Simon Nemec lifted the New Jersey Devils to victory on Wednesday night, burying a wrist shot 2:58 into overtime to secure a 3–2 win over the St. Louis Blues.

New Jersey (15-7-1) continued its dominant start at Prudential Center, extending its franchise-best mark to nine wins in its first 10 home games.

Nico Hischier played a starring role in the win, setting up Nemec’s game-winner and finishing with a goal and two assists. The Devils’ captain now has nine points in his last five outings and has been a driving force during the team’s strong stretch. Timo Meier chipped in with a goal and an assist as well, pushing his scoring streak to three straight games.

Cam Fowler recorded a goal and an assist for St. Louis (7-11-6), while Robert Thomas scored on the power play to continue his hot run—now 12 points across his last 15 contests.

New Jersey received a solid effort in net from Jacob Markstrom, who turned away 21 shots. Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington finished with 26 saves in the loss.

With the game tied entering the third period, the Devils faced a major challenge after Ondrej Palat was handed a four-minute high-sticking penalty. New Jersey’s penalty kill rose to the occasion, surrendering just four shots and preserving the 2–2 deadlock.

Hischier had evened the score late in the second period with a power-play strike, assisted by Meier and Luke Hughes. Thomas had briefly put St. Louis ahead earlier in the period, converting on the man advantage at 14:37. Fowler opened the scoring for the Blues just 2:16 into the game, before Meier knotted things up midway through the first.

The victory moved New Jersey to 4–1 in overtime this season. St. Louis, now 0–5 beyond regulation, wrapped up its longest road trip of the year with a 1-1-3 record.
