ATHENS, Ga. — The 16th-ranked Georgia softball team came up short in both games of Saturday’s doubleheader against No. 4 Texas A&M at Jack Turner Stadium, falling 8-0 in six innings in game one and 12-5 in the second contest.

Game One Recap:

Freshman Randi Roelling took the loss in the circle for the Bulldogs (8-6), allowing six runs — only one earned — across 3.1 innings. She tallied three strikeouts but issued five walks.

Relievers Destin Howard and Ella Troutt finished the game for Georgia, while the offense managed four hits from Tyler Ellison, Dallis Goodnight, Sarah Gordon, and Hannah Davila.

Texas A&M’s Emiley Kennedy earned the win, improving to 12-3 on the season.

Game Two Recap:

Despite an early spark from the Bulldogs’ offense, Texas A&M surged past Georgia in game two. Jaydyn Goodwin and Sarah Gordon provided back-to-back home runs in the first inning, staking Georgia to a quick 4-0 lead — marking the first time this season two Bulldogs have homered consecutively.

Goodwin and Gordon both finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBI each. Gordon later added an RBI infield single in the fifth inning to chip away at the Aggies’ lead.

Lilli Backes (10-5) was charged with the loss, surrendering nine runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings. Rachel Gibson pitched the final 2.2 innings in relief.

Texas A&M’s offense proved too powerful, led by winning pitcher Emily Leavitt (3-0), who helped close out the doubleheader sweep.

Georgia will look to bounce back and avoid the sweep when the series wraps up Monday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
