Columbus, OH—-O-H-I-O! The Ohio State Buckeyes continue their march toward a ninth National Championship after taking down the Marshall Thundering Herd on a scorching 90-degree day in Columbus.

The Thundering Herd struck first, making a bold statement on their opening drive. Running back Ethan Payne punched in a 1-yard rushing touchdown, giving Marshall a surprising 7-0 lead. This marked the first touchdown the Buckeyes had allowed in eight quarters. But Ohio State didn’t waste time responding—wide receiver Emeka Egbuka hauled in a pass from quarterback Will Howard and took it 68 yards to the house, tying the game at 7-7.

Shortly after, Marshall’s defensive back Josh Moten intercepted an under-thrown pass by Howard, giving the Thundering Herd some momentum late in the first quarter.

Early in the second quarter, Will Howard took control, sneaking in for a 1-yard touchdown to put Ohio State ahead 14-7. Then, with just under 11 minutes left in the half, running back Quinshon Judkins turned a punt return into an 86-yard highlight-reel touchdown, extending the lead to 21-7.

The Buckeyes kept up the pressure with a 14-yard rushing touchdown by TreVeyon Henderson, capping a seven-play drive and pushing the score to 28-7. But Marshall wasn’t done yet—wide receiver Elijah Metcalf kept them in it with a beautiful 13-yard toe-drag touchdown in the back of the end zone, sending the Herd into halftime down just 14 points (28-14).

The Buckeyes opened the second half with authority, as TreVeyon Henderson ripped off a 40-yard rushing touchdown—his second of the day—to make it 35-14. Freshman sensation Jeremiah Smith added to the fireworks late in the third quarter, catching a 53-yard touchdown and putting Ohio State up 42-14.

The Buckeyes weren’t finished, though. Early in the fourth quarter, Quinshon Judkins scored his second touchdown of the game on a 6-yard run, capping a dominant 68-yard drive and sealing the deal at 49-14.

With the win, Ohio State improves to 3-0 and continues its quest for a National Championship. The Buckeyes open Big Ten play next week against Michigan State.
