New York, NY—The Jets were ranked (32nd) in total offense and (24th) in total defense last season. Sam Douglas days with the Gang Green may be numbered. GM Joe Douglas likes BYU quarterback Zack Wilson and he might be changing his area code to 212.

The Jets would be in position to draft Wilson at the number two spot. He is a quick-footed thrower with great athleticism to avoid pressure. Wilson also has enough mobility to extend plays with his legs and find success when plays break down.

LT Mekhi Becton had a productive rookie season. The massive tackle never looked rattled or over-matched. He played through pain through the second half of the season. He is definitely the cornerstone for the Jets going forward.

Edge Rusher

The Jets recorded 31 sacks last season; Pressure off the edge was nonexistent last season. Their best pass rusher was 2019 third overall draft pick Quinnen Williams who had seven sacks. On the edge, outside linebackers Jordan Jenkins had two sacks and Tarell Basham completed the season with 3.5 sacks. So the Gang Green definitely need to upgrade in this area.

Some Free Agency Signings

WR Corey Davis

Former Team (s) Tennessee

Contract:3 years, $37.5 million ($27 guaranteed)

Davis is coming off his best season in the NFL, a year in which the former first-rounder accumulated 984 receiving yards over 14 games played. The Western Michigan product also had five touchdowns in 2020, catching 65 total receptions on 92 targets.

RB Tevin Coleman

Former Team (s) San Francisco

Contract: 1 year, $2 million

Coleman, 27, played in just eight games for Frisco last season, rushing for 53 yards (1.9 YPA). He also had four receptions for 34 yards.

After a promising start with the Falcons, running for 800 yards and nine total touchdowns in 2018, he failed to duplicate that same amount of success in San Francisco, rushing for 544 yards and six touchdowns (14 games) in 2019.

DE Vinny Curry

Former Team (s) Philadelphia

Contract: 1 year, $1.3 million ($1.075 million guaranteed)

Curry has 32 1/2 sacks while being used mostly as a rotational defensive end throughout his career. He had three sacks in 11 games last season with Philly. Curry also has 92 quarterback hits. With Curry on the edge the Jets are hoping they can get more pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

DE Carl Lawson

Former Team (s) Cincinnati

Contract: 3 years, $45 million ($30 million guaranteed)

Last season, Lawson became an every-down player for the first time and finished with 5.5 sacks. He has 20 sacks in four years, nothing eye popping off the charts — but the Jets needed a edge-rusher off the market. His relentless passing style will definitely solidify the Jets front four.
