San Antonio, TX— UAB used a late surge to pull away from UTSA on Wednesday night, securing an 83–73 win at the Convocation Center and handing the Roadrunners their 14th consecutive loss.

Daniel Rivera led the Blazers with a team-high 17 points and added seven rebounds, helping UAB improve to 13–8 overall and 4–4 in American Athletic Conference play. Chance Westry delivered an efficient performance, scoring 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting while dishing out six assists, and Jacob Meyer chipped in 13 points.

The game remained tight for much of the night, with UAB carrying a slim 38–36 advantage into halftime behind Rivera’s 11 first-half points. UTSA stayed within striking distance throughout the second half and briefly grabbed a one-point lead late, but the Blazers answered when it mattered most.

UAB rattled off a decisive 9–0 run in the final two minutes to flip the game in its favor, turning a narrow deficit into a commanding 77–69 lead with 1:51 remaining. Dayjaun Anderson sparked the push, scoring nine of his points after the break as the Blazers closed the door at the free-throw line.

UTSA (4–17, 0–9 AAC) was paced by Brent Moss, who finished with 19 points and seven rebounds. Jamir Simpson followed with 18 points, while Baboucarr Njie added 13 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks in a strong all-around effort. Despite multiple contributors, the Roadrunners were unable to overcome UAB’s late execution.

With the win, UAB evened its conference record and maintained momentum heading into the next stretch of AAC play, while UTSA continues its search for its first league victory of the season.
