East Rutherford, N.J. — After a week of frustration and self-reflection, New York Giants rookies Cam Skattebo and Jaxson Dart turned their mistakes into motivation — and delivered the biggest win of their young careers.

Skattebo powered into the end zone three times, and Dart accounted for two more scores as the Giants shocked the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles, 34–17, under the lights at MetLife Stadium. The victory handed Philadelphia its second straight loss after starting the season unbeaten.

“Nobody really expected this from us,” Dart said after the game. “But inside the locker room, we believed. We just played for each other — no statements, no noise, just football.”

Dart, showing poise beyond his years, completed 17 of 25 passes for 195 yards, adding 58 more on the ground with a 20-yard touchdown run. He also threw a 35-yard strike to Wan’Dale Robinson, who weaved through defenders for a score.

Skattebo was relentless between the tackles, rushing for a career-high 98 yards on 19 carries and catching two passes for 12 yards. He scored from 4 yards out and twice from the 1, each time refusing to be denied.

“I’m sleeping with this game ball tonight,” Skattebo joked. “The big guys up front made it happen. They fought for me, and I wanted to fight for them.”

The performance was a redemption story for both rookies, who were critical of themselves after committing costly turnovers in last week’s loss to New Orleans. Their accountability paid off, earning praise from head coach Brian Daboll.

“You find out what you’re made of after a tough week,” Daboll said. “These young players — they didn’t fold. They grew stronger. They showed toughness, resilience, and belief.”

The Giants’ defense matched the offense’s energy. Brian Burns registered two sacks, tying him for the NFL lead with seven, and Cor’Dale Flott sealed the win with a 68-yard interception return — Jalen Hurts’ first pick of the season.

Hurts struggled to find rhythm, missing a wide-open DeVonta Smith on what could have been a long touchdown and later lamenting his errors. “I’ve got to be better,” Hurts admitted. “Those are on me — bad throw, missed opportunity. I’ll own it.”

The Eagles (4–2) scored on a series of quarterback sneaks — the infamous “tush push” — with Hurts punching in a short touchdown and adding a shovel-pass TD to Dallas Goedert. But their miscues and defensive lapses doomed them to consecutive losses for the first time since the end of the 2023 season.

For the Giants (2–4), the win marked just their fourth victory in 18 games against Philadelphia — and one that could mark a turning point for a young roster still finding its identity.

“We’ve been through the tough moments,” Dart said. “But nights like this show what we can become if we keep believing.”
