Annapolis, MD—-In front of a record-breaking crowd of 39,914 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, the Navy Midshipmen struggled on Senior Day, suffering a tough 35-0 loss to the Tulane Green Wave.
The game took a turn early when Tulane’s defense knocked Navy’s standout quarterback Blake Horvath out of the game. From there, the Green Wave took control, scoring touchdowns in each of the first three quarters to build a commanding 21-0 lead heading into the fourth.
Navy, who started the season 7-0, has faltered in recent weeks, losing two of their last three games. Following an opening-week defeat to Notre Dame, the Midshipmen have struggled to regain momentum, and their offensive woes were on full display against Tulane.
Tulane quarterback Darian Mensah and running back Makhi Hughes led a methodical offense that dominated time of possession. Playing mistake-free football, the Green Wave effectively kept Navy’s defense on the field, wearing them down with consistent execution and zero turnovers.
The victory secured Tulane a spot in the AAC Championship Game, where they’ll face Army on December 6. Navy, meanwhile, will look to regroup for their final regular-season game at East Carolina next week before their annual showdown against Army in Landover, Maryland, next month.
For the Midshipmen, the loss of Horvath adds to their challenges. If Navy hopes to finish the season strong, they’ll need to find answers on offense and regain the form that carried them to an undefeated start.
Tulane, now eyeing an outside shot at the College Football Playoff, will ride the momentum from this dominant win as they prepare for their conference title clash.
