Smith Powers Holy Spirit Past Vineland

Absecon, NJ—Patrick Smith and the Holy Spirit High School football team beat Vineland 21-7 at home Friday night in a West Jersey Football League game in Absecon, New Jersey.

Smith racked up three touchdowns finished the game with 37 carries for 333 yards.

Last Saturday, Smith rushed for a Cape-Atlantic League-record 362 yards on 30 rushes in a 41-0 win over Cedar Creek. In his last two games, he has rushed for a combined 695 yards on the ground.

Quarterback Trevor Cohen was 4 of 7 passing for 15 yards for the Spartans, No. 4 in The Press Elite 11. Gavin Roman had two catches for 12 yards.

Caleb Gandy evened up the game for Vineland (0-2) in the second quarter, when he threw a 20-yard scoring strike to Jonathan Toney.

Two of Smith’s scores went for over 70 yards. The first came in the first quarter, when he dashed for 72-yards for a score to give Holy Spirit an early 7-0 lead, while the second was a 78-yarder that sealed the victory.

Smith’s 20-yard touchdown earlier in the fourth quarter broke a 7-7 tie score.

Whenever Holy Spirit needed to score all they had to do is give the ball to old reliable number 4.

Yadiel Feliciano went 3-for-3 in PATs for Holy Spirit.
