St. Peter’s Prep Dominates Seton Hall Prep in 49-20 Victory to Extend Unbeaten Streak

St. Peter’s Prep, ranked No. 2 in the NJ.com Top 20, delivered an impressive 49-20 victory over Seton Hall Prep during a quad meet hosted by St. Benedict’s in Newark. The Marauders added bonus points in seven of the matchups, securing a dominant win.

With this victory, St. Peter’s Prep extends its unbeaten streak to 10, bringing its season record to 15-1. The only blemish on their record this season came in a close loss to No. 1 Delbarton. The Marauders were particularly strong in the lighter and middle weight classes, winning all but one bout between 113 and 157 pounds.

Key victories for the Marauders included pins from Laudan Henry (144), Joseph Ruiz (150), Max Nevlin (157), Josh Piparo (165), and Connor Reynolds (285).

In addition to the pins, Christian Ramirez secured a 10-1 major decision over Joseph Viola at 113 pounds, earning four bonus points for the team. Salvatore Borrometi battled through a tight 1-0 decision against Andre Morero at 126 pounds, while Anthony Borrometi earned a 4-1 decision over Anthony Pellegrino at 120 pounds. Anthony Verdi added a 14-7 decision over Brandon Papa at 175 pounds.

Seton Hall Prep (8-6) earned a few victories, with Tyler Yildiz pinning his opponent at 138 pounds, Preston Nitche winning by a 15-0 technical fall over Braedan Ruiz at 106 pounds, Clark Rich taking a 12-6 decision over Carmen Marano at 190 pounds, and Rocco Salerno securing a forfeit victory at 215 pounds.

St. Peter’s Prep went on to finish the quad with a perfect 3-0 record, also defeating St. Benedict’s 71-3 and Passaic Tech 60-9.
