Foxborough, Mass. — Sam Surridge cemented his spot atop the MLS scoring chart with a brilliant hat trick, powering Nashville SC to a thrilling 3-2 victory over the New England Revolution on Wednesday night.
With 15 goals on the season, Surridge now leads the league, overtaking Philadelphia’s Tai Baribo (13), as Nashville (10-4-5, 35 points) notched their second straight win and stretched their unbeaten streak to 10 matches (6-0-4). They haven’t tasted defeat since April 19.
The Revs (6-6-5, 23 points) suffered their second consecutive loss, struggling to regain rhythm following a 10-day break. Tomas Chancalay was a bright spot for New England, tallying a goal and an assist.

Match Recap:
15’ — Revolution Strike First: Carles Gil connected with Chancalay, who fired a left-footed rocket past Joe Willis to give the home side a 1–0 lead.
45+2’ — Equalizer: Surridge leveled the score with a perfectly placed header off a cross from Jonathan Perez, tucking it into the bottom left corner.
49’ — Revs Regain Lead: Brayan Ceballos headed in his first goal of the season, assisted by Chancalay, to make it 2–1.
51’ — Level Again: Off a cross from Hany Mukhtar, Daniel Lovitz nodded the ball goalward, where Surridge redirected it across the line. Initially credited to Lovitz, the goal was later awarded to Surridge.
58’ — Game Winner: After Mamadou Fofana fouled Mukhtar in the box, Surridge stepped up and buried the penalty, completing his hat trick and sealing the win for Nashville.
Nashville dominated the match statistically, outshooting the Revs 15-9 and putting six shots on target to New England’s four. Mukhtar and Surridge each tested Aljaz Ivacic with close-range attempts earlier in the first half, but it was Surridge’s clinical finishing that proved the difference.
The two teams previously battled to a 0–0 draw in the season opener, but this rematch delivered fireworks, with Nashville coming out on top thanks to its red-hot striker.
