Tampa Bay, FL—-Tampa Bay Downs in Oldsmar, Florida welcomed a large and enthusiastic crowd as it opened its historic 100th Anniversary meet. The track’s origins date back to February 18, 1926, when Kentucky Colonel Matt Winn partnered with Ohio investor Harvey Myers Jr. to bring their vision to life.
Over the decades the venue has undergone name changes and numerous updates, yet the spirit of Tampa Bay Downs has never wavered. Known for its outstanding turf course and family-friendly atmosphere, the track continues to honor tradition while embracing new generations of racing fans.
Affectionately nicknamed the “Oldsmar Oval,” Tampa Bay Downs is gearing up for another exciting year. A full slate of stakes races is scheduled, including two key stops on the road to the Kentucky Derby.
Three-year-olds will compete for Derby qualifying points in the Sam F. Davis Stakes on February 7 and again in the Tampa Bay Derby on March 7. Fans can also look forward to hat and calendar giveaways, special guests, children’s events, and a variety of activities planned throughout the rest of 2025 and well into 2026.
In celebration of the track’s centennial milestone, Jockeys and Jeans has selected Tampa Bay Downs to host one of its major fundraising events for the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF).
Many Hall of Fame riders are expected to attend, offering fans the chance to meet racing legends and collect autographs on February 14, 2026. Additional details and ticket information are available online.
Live racing takes place every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, with Sunday cards added beginning December 21, 2025. The meet continues through May 3, 2026. Admission is free on Wednesdays, and general admission on regular race days is $3. Beyond racing, visitors can also enjoy The Silks Poker Room and The Downs Golf Practice Facility, making Tampa Bay Downs a destination for a variety of entertainment options.
