Newark, N.J. — Brandon Hagel netted a hat trick, scoring three goals, while Victor Hedman added two more as the Tampa Bay Lightning triumphed over the New Jersey Devils 8-5 on Tuesday night.

In addition to Hagel and Hedman, Brayden Point, Jake Guentzel, and Janis Moser contributed goals to help the Lightning end a two-game losing streak. Anthony Cirelli stood out with four assists, and goaltender Jonas Johansson made 28 saves.

The Devils saw Timo Meier score twice, while Jack Hughes, Nathan Bastian, and Stefan Noesen each contributed a goal. Goaltender Jake Allen finished the night with 29 saves as New Jersey fell to 1-2-1 in their last four games after a strong start.

New Jersey took a 2-1 lead early in the second period, but the Lightning responded with five consecutive goals later in the frame, three of which came from Hagel.

Moser’s short-handed goal in the third period traveled 136 feet after bouncing off the side boards, increasing Tampa Bay’s lead to 8-4.

After suffering a 5-2 loss to the Maple Leafs in Toronto on Monday, the Lightning came out firing, registering 37 shots on goal and blocking 18 shots against the Devils.
