The New Jersey Performing Arts Center lives true to its name, housing a multicultural blend of talent and musical genres enhancing its artistic style. On Sunday, November 10th the jazzy blues sounds of none other than Buddy Guy and Mavis Staples will grace the stage swaying fans with their melodic tunes.

Known to have influenced many eminent guitarists from Jimi Hendrix to John Mayer, the multitalented singer, songwriter and guitarist Buddy Guy has graced stages across the globe. Since the 1950’s, Guy made a name for himself with a style all his own, a virtue of originality mixing deep blues with various tones adding versatile speeds and raspy vocals.

Rhythm and Blues, gospel singer, actress, and civil rights activist, Mavis Staples is also legendary in the limelight. Beginning her career in the 1950s under her family group “The Staples Sisters” they were branded as the spiritual and musical voices of the civil rights era bonding ties to many including the prominent Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Staples later took on a solo career collaborating with a wide variety of musicians including the great Bob Dylan.

Sunday, November 10th these two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees take center stage at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center located at 1 Center Street, Newark, NJ 07102. Tickets on sale now at the box office.
