The Legendary First Ladies Of Disco Set The Roof On Fire At Renowned Joe’s Pub

New York, NY-Since opening their doors nearly a quarter century ago, Joe’s Pub is NYC’s eclectic epicenter of the arts. Duplicating its ever trendy Village flare, its known as the mecca for renowned diverse music genres, spoken word, as well as aspiring actors and top performers. Its cultural theme fused with an urbane ambience gives the cozy long-standing locale a definite place to kick back, relax, and enjoy an night of pristine entertainment.

Saturday evening’s headliner was just as remarkable with the Legendary First Ladies of Disco featuring the Queen of Clubland Martha Wash, former Miss New York State soulful singer/actress Linda Clifford, and former powerhouse lead vocalist of disco-funk group Chic Norma Jean Wright firing up the venue reviving that vintage era with an outstanding production of retro favorites and funky groove rhythms.

Gracing the spotlights looking radiantly beautiful, the Ladies hit the set belting out notes to their 2019 second single “Don’t Stop Me Now” capturing the elated crowd. Basking in the momentum, the funky divas slayed renditions to a disco medley of timeless classic hits Dan Hartman’s “Relight My Fire”, The Tramp’s “Disco Inferno”, Donna Summer’s “Bad Girls”, Brainstorm’s “Lovin’ Is Really My Game“, Vicki Sue Robinson’s “Turn The Beat Around“, Labelle’s “Lady Marmalade” and Sylvester smash “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)” setting the entire pub ablaze.

Adding to the nostalgic flavor were the trio’s sensational band and background vocalists rocking to Kool & The Gang’s “Get Down On It”, the great Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin’s “Rock Steady” together with the late Rick James’ “Super Freak” rocking the pub stage.

Heightening the euphoric crowd’s energy, the seasoned songstresses pumped up the volume performing solos to their classic hits. Chic’s former lead vocalist Norma Jean Wright set it off to timeless tracks “Good Times“, “Le Freak“, “I Want Your Love“, “Everybody Dance“, “Saturday” and “Rising To The Top” getting fans rocking to the funky beats.

Next taking over center stage was Linda Clifford jamming to her hit list on “Runaway Love“, “All The Man I Need“, “Shoot Your Best Shot“, “Red Light” followed by her 1978 disco smash “If My Friends Could See Me” having music lovers shake their tail feathers.

Lastly, Martha Wash laced her classic club mix to “Everybody Dance“, “Keep On Jumping“, “This Love“, “Carry On“, “Listen To The People“, “Everybody, Everybody” then cooling down to “Dream On” simmering her explosive flow before the ladies’  sensational finale with their 2015 debut track “Show Some Love” and ageless classic “It’s Raining Men” having the entire venue burst into an all out jamboree.
