Las Vegas, NV-GENTLEMAN START YOUR ENGINES!!!!!! Are the famous 4 words every NASCAR fan loves to hear at the beginning of a race and when NFL Hall of Famer, Super Bowl XVIII Champion & MVP Marcus Allen who served as Grand Marshall shouted that phrase at today’s 25th Annual Pennzoil 400 Cup Series competition, the crowd could have been heard over the next state.

The event’s theme was “Wendell Scott” weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway honoring its first African American NASCAR driver Wendell Scott for his attributes and contributions to the sport of NASCAR. His son Frank and grandson Warrick were there in honor of their father and grandfather representing the family tradition, an heirloom of his legacy.

In the spirit of family, a universal focus shared throughout the NASCAR event was the act of humaneness. Multiple teams including Hendrick Motorsports which donated $2,000 for every lap they raced in addition to their $200,000, raised funds for aid in Ukraine. The sentiment “finishing races is important, but racing is more important” is one of several exciting factors in a contest of this magnitude, this was one that unified the participants not just as a road race network but as a global community.

The race itself was not a disappointment to the fans at all as it went down to the wire into OT. Yes you read it correctly, there is OT in NASCAR. The competitors were fueled strategizing their rounds, going the distance. As the race was coming to it’s last few laps Las Vegas native #18 Kyle Busch had a commanding lead and it looked as if he was going to snatch the win after starting in last position at takeoff. But a caution going into the closing laps forced the racers to pit and into a winner take all.

In the end #48 Alex Bowman Ally Chevrolet was victorious capturing the checkered flag. This was Alex’s 7th victory in 228 Cup series races and his first victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Can Alex and team Hendrick take this same momentum into Arizona next weekend and capture a back-to-back victory at the RUOFF Mortgage 500? Race fans will be on the edge of their seats for this one and 4.0 Sports and Entertainment will be there.
