Since 1997, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center has brought back a different quality of life to the city of Newark. After the Civil Rights Riots of the late 1960’s, Newark has been known as one of the roughest cities in Essex county.

During such time, its African American residency was heavily populated later increasing with its Hispanic population further urbanizing the environment yet making it more susceptible to impoverished times.

Throughout its tough history, the city has longed for a positive outlet, a common ground that could bridge ethnicities of all backgrounds to reveal their constructive abilities and unify communities.
