Bronx, NY—The Orioles powered their way to a 9-7 victory over the Yankees on Wednesday, clinching the series in front of 41,010 fans in the Bronx. They kicked off the game with an explosive six consecutive hits, quickly jumping to a 3-0 lead against Marcus Stroman, who was called up to replace injured left-hander Nestor Cortes.

Stroman, now 10-9, struggled early, allowing six straight singles—some of which were softly hit. Ryan Mountcastle added to the offense with an RBI single, and Gunnar Henderson’s two-run single in the fourth inning ended Stroman’s night. He surrendered 10 hits, with 14 of the 17 allowed by Baltimore being singles, and was charged with six runs.

Rookie outfielder Jasson Domínguez overran Cowser’s two-run single, a flyball that fell in the left-field corner.

“He’s missed some plays that he should make,” Boone said.

Yankees’ star Aaron Judge hit his major league-leading 57th homer during a four-run ninth inning, marking his fourth consecutive game with a home run.

“There’s no quit in this team,” Judge stated. “I never feel like we’re out of a game, no matter the score.”

Juan Soto contributed a homer and three RBIs, while Anthony Volpe had an RBI single. Despite the loss, New York could have clinched the AL East title with a win in either of the previous two games.

The Orioles are now just four games behind the Yankees in the division standings with four games left.

Cedric Mullins shone offensively, going 3 for 4 with a walk, three runs scored, and two stolen bases.

“Right away, we had really good at-bats from the first inning,” said Baltimore manager Brandon Hyde. “We got a lot of clutch hits and kept the line moving. You can never score enough here, and it was a great night for us offensively.”

UP NEXT: The series concludes Thursday night with a showdown between Cy Young Award winners: Baltimore’s Corbin Burnes (15-8, 2.95 ERA) faces off against Gerrit Cole (7-5, 3.67).
