ANAHEIM, Calif. — Mike Trout inched closer to two major career milestones on Saturday night, launching a home run and driving in four runs to lead the Los Angeles Angels past the Arizona Diamondbacks, 10-5, at Angel Stadium.
Trout hit his 17th homer of the season in the fifth inning, a two-run shot off Arizona starter Zac Gallen, then capped a four-run eighth with a two-run single. The three-time MVP now sits at 395 career home runs and 994 RBIs, putting him within striking distance of both 400 homers and 1,000 RBIs.
Arizona’s Eugenio Suárez did his best to keep the Diamondbacks in the game, hitting two home runs — a 434-foot blast to center in the second inning and another to right-center in the fourth. The multi-homer effort gave him 31 on the season, surpassing last year’s total and marking his sixth career season with 30 or more.
After Suárez’s second homer gave Arizona a 2-1 lead in the fourth, the Angels responded in the bottom half with a three-run rally. Taylor Ward, Jo Adell, and Travis d’Arnaud all doubled to power the comeback, giving L.A. a 4-2 advantage.

Trout’s homer in the fifth extended the lead to 6-2, and though the Diamondbacks scored twice in the eighth to cut it to 6-5 after loading the bases against José Fermin, the Angels responded decisively. Zach Neto, Nolan Schanuel, and Trout delivered consecutive RBI singles in the bottom of the inning to put the game out of reach.
Yusei Kikuchi (4-6) got the win, allowing three runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings. He briefly stayed in the game after being struck on the shoulder by a line drive from Josh Naylor in the sixth but was pulled after giving up a single to Randal Grichuk.
Gallen (7-10) took the loss for Arizona, giving up eight hits and six earned runs in five innings.
Notable Return:
Diamondbacks reliever Andrew Saalfrank pitched two scoreless innings in his return from a one-year suspension for violating MLB’s gambling policy. He was reinstated June 5 and recalled from Triple-A Reno earlier this week.
Standings Impact:
With the win, the Angels improved to 47-48, just one game below .500, and secured a series victory after a 6-5 win on Friday. The Diamondbacks have now dropped three straight and 12 of their last 17, falling to 46-50 on the season.
Key Moment:
After Arizona closed the gap to 6-5 in the top of the eighth, the Angels responded with clutch back-to-back-to-back RBI singles from Neto, Schanuel, and Trout to seal the win.
