Las Vegas, NV-This weekend’s 26th Annual Alsco Uniform 300 Xfinity Series at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was one for the ages with 17 lead changes among 9 drivers and 11 cautions. But in the end, 19-year-old Ty Gibbs driving the #54 Monster Energy Toyota Supra for Joe Gibbs Racing was victorious. He captured his fifth victory in 21 Xfinity Series races, his first win of the season and first top 10 finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

It was a little touch and go shortly after the restart for the hotrod getting into a dust-up with fellow racer Ryan Sieg, his second with the dragster. Pausing on a weather red-flag in Lap 19, the two chatted about the incident but went at it again with Sieg attempting to run Gibbs into the Turn 4 wall by Lap 30 having #39 spin out taking Sheldon Creed and Brett Moffitt in the process ending his run in the contest.

In show of great sportsmanship, Gibbs apologized for his actions with Sieg on the track, “It wasn’t my best decision and I’m sorry to their whole group. Ryan’s family, they worked so hard, so I want to apologize to them”, said Gibbs. He thanked his track peer Justin Allgaier for pushing him to the lead over Noah Gragson. “That helped me out a lot. I had a fun time racing with JR (Motorsports) cars. Hopefully, we can keep it going and go out and win some more races”.

Gragson led 52 laps snagging his third top-three finish, Series champion Daniel Hemric came in third, Josh Berry in fourth followed by Allgaier completing the top five finishers, as we congratulate all who participated in the competition.

With next week’s United Rentals 200 Xfinity Series in Arizona Ty will be looking to add another piece of victorious hardware to his mantel. After finishing in 13th place last weekend in Fontana and to come in first this weekend is a big jump for the Gibbs racing team. Let’s see if they can keep the momentum going into Arizona this coming weekend.
