UConn Dominates Seton Hall At Walsh Gym 103-58

South Orange-After coming off 75-53 loss to Creighton on Wednesday, Seton Hall had a large order to fill against the No. 5 ranked UConn Huskies. The Huskies were too fast, long, and physical for the Pirates.

The Huskies are now 57-10 all-time, including 44-2 under coach Geno Auriemma. UConn have won the last 37 contests between the squads. The teams previously met on Dec. 21, in Hartford, 98-73 win for the Huskies. Junior Aaliyah Edwards led the Huskies with 23 points in the contest.

UConn have one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the conference. The Huskies have two remaining games at Tennessee on Jan. 26 and South Carolina on Feb. 5th at the XL Center in Hartford.

Connecticut (16-2, 2-4 Big East) Seton Hall (13-6, 6-3 Big East) 103-58 on Tuesday in front of packed house at Walsh Gym in South Orange, NJ. The first five minutes of the game set the tone for the Huskies. The came out a little flat but was able to get out run and score in transition.

UConn defended the perimeter well which the Pirates had a difficult time shooting over their length in the first half and carried over into the second. The Huskies went after Lauren Park-Lane and got her into foul trouble early. Park-Lane had to be a spectator in the first half because her three quick fouls.

“It’s disgusting not ok, just come out and don’t fight like we talked about again, it is two games in a row. They are really good, but we played really bad and part of it because of them but a lot of it because of us. No one have delusion of grandeur but will see.” Seton Hall head coach Anthony Bozzella said.

The Pirates got an early 5-2 lead, but the Huskies responded with a 19-2 run over 5:42 to reclaim a 21-7 advantage with just 1:51 left in the first quarter.

After a back-and-forth start to the contest, the Huskies settled down and went on a 17-2 run to end the quarter and took a commanding 25-9 lead.

Huskies Aubrey Griffin and Dorka Juhasz each scored 22 points while Aaliyah Edwards chipped in 21.

UConn had another run 11-0 just before the break which gave them a 50-22 advantage going into the locker room with Aaliyah Edwards leading the charge with 15 points and five boards.

Seton Hall was 23-for-74 (31.1%) from the floor for the game, while the Huskies was 39-for-69 (56.5%). The Pirates was 6-for-31 (19.4%) from three-point range, while the Huskies were 10-for-15 (66.7%).

In the second half, The Huskies opened with a 15-4 run to up the score to 65-26 and cruised the rest of the way.

Seton Hall was led by Jala Jordan, who scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds.

Redshirt junior Aubrey Griffin played well on both sides of the ball. Griffin’s father Adrian played basketball at Seton Hall. Her mother, Audrey, ran track at Seton Hall as well.
