Las Vegas, NV— Dedan Thomas Jr. powered UNLV to a 79-73 victory over San Jose State on Saturday night, contributing 17 points and six assists to lead the Rebels (9-5, 3-0 Mountain West Conference) to their third consecutive conference win.
Jailen Bedford added 16 points for UNLV, shooting 5-of-11 from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and converting 3-of-5 free throws. Jaden Henley also played a key role, tallying 13 points, five rebounds, and six assists while shooting 5-of-11 from the floor.
San Jose State (7-9, 0-4) was led by Josh Uduje, who scored 18 points in the loss. Will McClendon chipped in with 15 points and four assists, while Robert Vaihola recorded a strong performance with 13 points and eight rebounds.
UNLV built a commanding 44-26 lead by halftime, fueled by Bedford’s nine first-half points. Despite being outscored by 12 points in the second half, the Rebels held firm, with Thomas adding 11 points after the break to secure the win.
The victory solidifies UNLV’s strong start in conference play, while San Jose State continues to search for its first Mountain West victory of the season.
